URSB Registrar General Visits Standards Court

On Friday September 22, 2023, a team from the Uganda Registration Services Bureau(URSB) led by Registrar General, Ms Mercy K. Kainobwisho, paid a visit to the Standards, Utilities, and Wildlife Court.

She was accompanied The other members of the URSB team were; Ms Mariam Nabatanzi Miriam, Ms Immaculate Kisakye (Manager Compliance and Enforcement), Ms Carolynn Nazziwa Compliance and Enforcement Officer, Ms Sarah Rukundo (Compliance and Enforcement Officer), SP Salama (Acting head of Enforcement), and Ms Kayaga Julian, an intern.

The team were received by the Chief Magistrate, HW Gladys Kamasanyu, who appreciated them for being stakeholders in the administration of justice. 

She expressed the need for more capacity building sessions for the court.

The Registrar General commended the Judiciary leadership and Government as a whole for setting up the specialized court.

She noted that URSB has been doing capacity building trainings with the Judiciary and other stakeholders and that this will continue.

"Thankyou for the work you have done and still more to come once the copyright law is implemented," Ms Kainobwisho said.

She proposed the creation of a dedicated Intellectual Property Court to fight production of counterfeit products and other related cases.

The URSB team requested HW Kamasanyu to be an ambassador for the cause in the Judiciary and elsewhere.

Ms Kainobwisho presented a token of appreciation to the Judicial Officers and the Senior State Attorney at the Court.

HW Sanula Nambozo, HW Caroline Kyoshabire, and Mr Ivan Kyazze a Senior State Attorney from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions were in attendance.
